Industrialised Building Systems (IBS) is defined as the complete assembly construction: a construction system where components are manufactured at factories on or off site, transported and then assembled into a structure with minimum work.

IBS utilizes techniques, products, components, or building systems which involve prefabricated components and on-site installation.

The existing technology architecture as can be classified into 5 groups. The first group is the pre-cast concrete framing, panel and box systems. The most commonly used for the construction projects are the beams, columns, slabs and wall systems. There are other components that fall within this group which are the smaller components that could be prefabricated at the factories. The formwork for the pre-cast could be made of hard plastics. Ideally these could be those that are reusable for them to be considered IBS component.
